diploma in business law (University of Bayreuth)

Dr. Stefan Schmidt studied law at the University of Bayreuth and the Westfälische Wilhelms-University of Muenster. Aiming at a career as a lawyer for the pharmaceutical industry, he studied two terms of medical sciences while working on his legal dissertation. During his stay at the Institute for public commercial law of Prof. Dr. D. Ehlers at the University of Muenster he gained a profound knowledge of commercial law and the academic degree of a business lawyer.

His legal clerkship focused on medicinal law (Medical Association Muenster, German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Brussels, lawfirm Kanzlei am Aerztehaus, Muenster). His doctoral thesis centered around medicinal subjects as well, examining the impact of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) on the German Healthcare segment, specifically its implication on the European health insurance systems.

Dr. Schmidt got his admittance to the bar in 2009. Since then, together with his colleagues Dr. Kerstin Brixius, Andreas Frohn and Alexander Maur, he provides the pharmaceutical industry with legal advice out of the Cologne office of the lawfirm.
